It's Kind of a Funny Story

The movie was not what I expected firstly. I’ve read the book It’s Kind of a Funny Story, and boy does it blow the movie out of the water. Granted, I did enjoy being able to visualize things better. But the film just sorta pushed everything along too fast and missed some important history. Overall though, not too bad.

I love it so much bc i could see myself in Craig in some parts of his personality and problems and it show it so good and with amazing acting and characters, it was a joy to watch this amazing movie. I loved the story and how it said and it was awesome. Zach Galifianakis was amazing also I liked how Emma Roberts and Keir Gilchrist performed their parts and they were all amazing.

Don't let the mental health storyline bring you down, this film's got it all! Rich NYorkers, Zach G, Keir (great job!), Zoe K, Emma, & the Gilmore Girls lady! The #winning male-female tag-team directors puts an end to the gender wars & the soundtrack rocks too! Youthful cool heartwarming film! Bravo, Ned Vizzini, Bravo! Grade: A+

The movie was pretty good, but can never beat how awesome the book was!

I read the book and honestly loved it so much. It was hilarious yet relatable and real. I was so excited for the movie... Until I watched the trailer. It didn't seem much like the book. I saw the movie and with lowered expectation it was a descent movie, but not half as good of a story as the actual text. People who are saying it's hilarious must've not read the book because it was packed with so much more comedy. I wouldn't exactly reccomend this movie, I'd refer people to the book instead. They didnt totally screw it up, but it just wasn't that good. Read the book, it's more enjoyable. Better storyline. More realistic - and more relatable.

I fell in love with the book years back and, while not perfect, the movie is excellent. It's a really good pick-me-up for me personally. I think many of the bad reviews are based on the "this would never happen in reali life", which in some regard is true - but you have to move beyond that thinking. It's sad that Ned Vizzini ended up dying of suicide, such a brillant man and mind.

Great soundtrack, good actors, clever lines... very good movie over all. The book was also super good!! Great portrayal of mental illness and how it's a normal day to day thing, it doesn't always look like a weird dude in a straight-jacket; it looks like you and me. And we can get past it and ser brighter days :)

Not only is the main character's performance an unrealistic and one-dimensional representation of depression, but Emma Robert's character is the definition of the manic pixie dream girl. She only serves as a reflection of Craig, has no character development of her own, and creates this disturbing fantasy of "girl in the psych ward". Not a fan of this bland movie.
