Description

IF A TREE FALLS: A STORY OF THE EARTH LIBERATION FRONT is the remarkable story of the group's rise and fall, told through the transformation and radicalization of one of its members, Daniel McGowan. Using never-before-seen archival footage and intimate interviews, IF A TREE FALLS asks hard questions about environmentalism, activism, and the way we define terrorism.

This movie does a good job making me inspired about environmentalism, but it is also kind of sad and not really that good. I also wish they had an update on the current state of environmentalism.. watching all those trains of lumber roll through Eugene made me wonder, not just where did all the trees go, but where did the activists go? It becomes more of a personal story about Daniel but that is only so interesting. All in all an interesting look inside ELF, but I felt it could have gone way deeper.
