Description

Abigail Clayton (Selma Blair) lives alone. Very alone. In fact, the heiress has not left her Manhattan apartment for almost two decades. When the death of her elderly neighbor prompts NYPD Homicide Detective Frank Giardello (Giovanni Ribisi) to launch an investigation, the agoraphobic Abigail is distressed to find him outside her door, questioning her. Having tried to acquire the now vacant apartment to ensure her privacy, Abigail is further upset when new tenants Lillian (Amy Smart) and Charlie (Jason Lee) move in. Abigail anxiously monitors her new neighbors from the safety of her front door’s peephole, but her well-ordered world begins to unravel when she finally encounters Lillian and Charlie face-to-face and her sheltered existence becomes threatened in unexpected and terrifying ways.

  • One of the worst movies I've ever seen

A fairly interesting story told in a terrible way. Why do they reveal things as it unfolds? Takes away all elements of surprise. Everyone, including people in the background, is attractive. Totally unreal. Bad acting, too. I want my money back!
  • Very disappointing...

With such a solid cast, I was really surprised at how poorly this film was directed. The plot is extremely thin, yet the writer goes out of his way to make it as complicated as he can for absolutely no reason (other than to take up time). Ribisi does a great job as usual, and Kevin Pollack does as well. The rest of the acting was like they were wading through rough waters. I normally like Selma Blair, but here character was shallow and forced. It was predictable and boring, and the ending shows a full 180 of characters' personas. All that said, if you watch it, I hope you enjoy it.

Sounded more thrilling than it was. To begin with, I felt too much of this movie was filmed in low light to dark conditions. It was also very predictable, so easy to figure out what was coming next, and I could have written the dialog myself. I also expected more emoting than these fine actors gave. The bus scene was a nice touch, but again, predictable. All in all, I'll chalk it up to a mediocre script, with a less than desirable Director...these actors certainly aren't A-List, but they deserve better than this...

From the first scene, to the last, my shoulders were tense! The bus scene...WOW! I might just be dense, but the way the plot twists, and turns, I was constantly in a state of surprise. The characters are well developed, and you hate and love them...the story line is fascinating, and puzzling...and the acting, superb! This movie is a MUST SEE for anyone who likes suspense! Thanks iTunes!

I wish I hadn't seen the trailer before renting the movie…. but nonetheless, I really liked the movie. There were some twists in the movie but I saw them coming - which is partly due to my viewing the trailer before hand. Columbus circle is rather interesting. Its a little suspenseful. There are some twists, but even if you see them coming it was still great to watch. The acting is really good. I loved the way it ended. I recommend this movie.

Once in a while something good comes out of Hollywood and this "sleeper" film is one such effort. Well directed, well acted and well thought out it will entertain you from start to finish -- especially the finish. I watched it three times in 12 hours and kept picking up subtle explanations to the plot along the way each time. You become so engrossed in the film there's no time to try to figure it all out. A superior effort.

This was a highly entertaining film, I highly recommend it. My only criticism if any pertained to the main character's past. How did she "disappear" and yet have access to millions of dollars? That part was a little murky.
  • Suspense and well-played … with a twist

I don't know how this movie slipped through without me noticing. I really like Giovanni Ribisi and try to see all the movies he is in. Hence this is mandatory for any Ribisi fan. But it is really a surprising good and well-made movie where the cast plays really well, the soundtrack is backing the movie perfectly and the light is really well made. And then the story … you're just in for a ride from beginning to end! Enjoy!
