If you need to be reminded of what a punk era art film is all about watch this movie. Excellent sound and cinematography, some say disturbing but pretty tame for todays world.

If you are a normal movie fan, this is not for you. This is exactly what wanna be high brow cinema-philes need to talk about at dinner parties filled with other useless people who crave attention. It's dark, nonsensical and a complete waste of time. I watched it in its entirety during the Twin Peaks / Blue Velvet craze. I want my 2hours of life back.

This movie will confuse you and make you wonder what you just watched. Its decent but the ride of emotions it sends you on is that of no other movie. Not for everyone. Some people love it, Some people thinks its a boring, strange crawl of a movie. I tend to be the former.

I still have nightmares about this one man

I'm a fan of Lynch and surrealist art, but this one was a little too disturbing for my taste. If you like to be horrified and disgusted, go for it…no sarcasm intended!

There is absolutely nothing enjoyable about this movie. There is a plot, but not one that is easy to follow. There is next to no character development and the characters are not likeable in the least. The entire film is incredibly hard to watch and made me want to scratch my own skin off in numerous parts. I did find it scary, but not in the traditional sense. There weren't any jump scares, but instead this film got into your mind and used clues your subconscious picked up on throughout the film to come back and freak you out later. That being said, I do appreciate Eraserhead. The film itself is like a Rorschach test. What you get out of it says more about you than it does about the movie. The use of sound is incredible and the torturously slow movement of characters and effects will have you begging for the tension to end. Sound is so important in this movie because the ratio of background music to actual spoken dialogue is about 9:1. Not just the score but also the effects such as the baby crying and creaking of the radiator kept me on edge. The characters and scenes are so slow paced I was shifting in my seat in anticipation for the next movement to be made. There's no way this film would have been as powerful in color, and the shadowing and lighting techniques utilized were brilliant. I had to look away frequently and cringed more times than I can count. For any horror film buffs out there, I can only think of one comparison to Eraserhead. In "The Ring", you know the movie that kills you when you watch it? You know how the grainy images and incredible lighting, quick and unexpected shot changes, and camera angles set your nerves on edge? That's exactly what this film will do to you. It's like watching one long version of what you see in "The Ring." Try to keep yourself from asking "why" during the movie. Sit back and watch it, take it all in. When it's over, analyze it if you feel the need. Or take it at face value. I would recommend this movie to someone, but only once. I never see myself watching it again, but it is an incredible piece of cinematography and is a must see for any psychological or horror film fanatics.

I watched this movie after researching horror films and this being one that was highly recommended. If you want to spend 15 minutes watching a man walk and ride an elevator go for it. I kept waiting for the scares or the amazing story but it was just one strange joke after another. The goal of this movie is to bore you with long silences, annoying dialogue or interactions, and bizarre occurrences that don’t hold any weight. It’s not even the “good” kind of strange or weirdly wonderful. Its just BAD and if you value your time, you will skip this.

This film is totally disturbing, numbingly weird and pretty much as out there as it gets. That's the draw. That's the hook. Can you imagine how the cast and crew might have dealt with this thing? Any other color than black and white simply couldn't have worked. Don't over-think this film...just sit back and let yourself become immersed in its artistry. Do it on a dark rainy night. Late. Maybe you'll get it. I believe that this thing is intended to be counter-logical, and can draw you in as if you fell into a dumpster while eating mushrooms, I don't know. We are but a fly on the wall and are being exposed to the things that happen in the room while we cling to the surface. Screw logic and plot. Shut up and be disturbed. Kick the envelope. It will intensify your human experience.
