Description

According to ancient lore, if a human freely offers their heart to a demon, that monster can become mortal, experiencing the true pains and passions of existence. This is the ultimate triumph of the underworld. Xiaowei (Xun Zhou), a millennia-old fox spirit, is freed from her frozen prison and transforms into a dangerous seductress, consuming living hearts to keep her beautiful as she searches for her chance to become human. Meanwhile, Princess Jing (Wei Zhao), hiding her marred beauty behind a golden mask, flees an unknown threat to her kingdom by pursuing the only man she ever loved: the guard who was unable to protect her, so many years ago. A twist of fate brings Princess Jing and Xiaowei together, and a slow game of wits, deceit, and seduction begins for the princess’ very own heart.

think the story is amazing. the conan the barbarian squad could have been toned down a bit, but the rest of the movie was great. the demon fox is gorgeous.

If you like special effects, beautiful sceneries and costumes, this is a movie for you. Those kind of Chinese movies always seem to repeat themselves...love...hate...demons...beauty...etc....but I liked this one.

I was simply amazed with this movie. I rented it just to pass the time at work, but now I am a huge fan. I love the fantasy and they did amazing job with the CGI, this was no crappy scifi original from the US. The actors did a great job and I went from renting, to buying just so I own this magic. If you stumbled onto this movie like I did, fate is telling you to get it.

Review was a bit too raving for what we getting . Its a decent fairy tale, based on love story with some extras thrown in (priest that looks like one of them Chaos worshippers from Warhammer 40k been kind of interesting). But foxes in Chinese folklore are much more complex than this take. And some of video sequences make absolutely no sense at all, its like they were just struggling to fill in blanks in plot. Think Deathtrance.. All in all - decent movie to spend some time watching. Nothing super spectacular...
