  • A classic restored

I recall when this first came out, and I had enjoyed it. When I later was investigating its whereabouts in the nineties for purchase, I was astounded to see "narrated by Ringo Starr" because, having been weaned on "Yellow Submarine" since I could barely walk, I knew that would have been a detail I would certainly have remembered. Well, as it turned out, I had remember correctly; the reason I never remembered Ringo narrating it is because he didn't. However, that original version was never able to be rereleased due to legal issues. So when it was remastered for home video, it was renarrated by Ringo. And he did an appealing job. ;) For me, I personally enjoy the Ringo version because it emphasizes the whole original 70s vibe, especially since he and Harry Nilsson were pals. Apart from the different nararration, the rest of the film appears to be completely untouched aside from the fact that the original colours were restored.
  • Will ever get the original?

I loved this movie as a child but can’t get that version for some reason. The Ringo version here was created in the the 80’s for the dvd release. The original was narrated by Dustin Hoffman in the 70’s and I prefer the Alan Thicke version which was the third version. Why we have to have the last version and no access to the others is very annoying especially in this day and age when the ability to include all is possible. Will not purchase the Ringo version.

I wanted to buy the movie I saw on TV so many years ago but I read reviews and believe this is not the complete movie. I'd buy it for my kids so they could see what I did if I could get the whole film. Too bad.

True, not the original, but I bought the album for that. This is fabulous because it has stayed with me for so long and now I can share it! Perfect.

I love this movie. I was a very small boy when this movie was shown on tv. I didn't know the name of the movie but I always remembered the end of it. It has stayed with me my entire life and I still hold it dear. The music is awesome and Ringo's voice over work is superb. I only wish this film could make as much of an impact in the lives of today's youth as it made on mine all those years ago.

First, I LOVE, admire, look up to and am completely smitten with Harry Nilsson's story and album "The Point". It was a childhood favorite and has remained some of my favorite songs as an adult. The SONGS are so heartfelt and moving. One of my favorite aspects of the music album is is that it was able to tell the full, beautiful story WITH the songs, which were all outstanding. I wanted to love this movie from the outset and couldn't wait to show it to my kids as their first intro to the Point. I found myself repeatedly biting my tongue as I wanted to let my kids know how this movie 60's cheezified my beloved The Point. How the songs, mostly absent from the film, WERE what made the story such an experience. Stand alone, this movie is fine, but I was aching for the full songs and animation to go with it, not a movie featuring segments of songs from the album of the same name.

The most important film ever made and one of the least know. It shows how people only see what they want to see...and do what they want to do. How SIMPLE IS THAT!
