Description

This groundbreaking cinematic event stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, the lone security repairman stationed on a desolate, nearly-ruined future Earth. When he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft, her arrival triggers a nonstop chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows, and leaves humanity’s fate in his hands. Academy Award®-winner Morgan Freeman joins Cruise in this “visually stunning” (Pete Hammond, Movieline), explosive story from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

  • Great movie, critics are babies

I have watched this movie about 30 times and each time I get a little more from it. The set design and props are legendary. The acting feels more than adequate for me. I really don't know why critics gave this 53% but users gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Its exciting, entertaining, and a fun, self contained adventure. My only regret is that I don't think I saw it first in theaters. I just finished it and had a long hard look at the credits which are among the best I've seen. There is so much production value in this film. The fact that critics gave this the rating they did, makes me angry. It makes me wish I could turn off critic reviews. They are too dumb to know when a good movie hits them in the face like a gold brick. Watch this, own it. Its worth it.

I don’t understand the bad reviews. Oblivion still feels fresh many years later. The cinematography and artwork are first-rate, and the characters are believable. It’s a sci-fi movie that has great tone and a few surprises that make it enjoyable with subsequent viewings. Just sit back and let the movie take you in.

I liked the plot a lot & truly shows that even when Earth is a wasteland, the remaining humans left can come together to still do extraordinary things. Tom Cruise’s performance was great👏🔥

Yes, 5-Stars. Why? It's certainly not Schindler's List or Forest Gump, but to its genre (and as a movie w/ Tom Cruise) it really IS superb. The story is compelling and well developed, the characters are relatable and easiliy invested. I adore the visuals, they're not done to dazzle but done to draw you in and expand the story... also, very cool (watch the Beehind the Scenes about the sets and how they wrapped the glass rooms with realtime animated video environments). A great standout is the soundtrack - it's one of the best composed musical compositions, unique and powerful, with a signature that makes the movie. M83's electronic vibe, combined with a big orchestra, should have been winner of the Best Soundtrack that year. But really, what matters with a movie like this, is this: was it fun and memorable? Hell yeah. I've watched it many times and always get a kick out of the experience (watch it loud). Cruise plays his character well with just the right amount of Crusiness. This, and Cruise's other brilliant SciFi classic Edge of Tomorrow, are some of his best movies--and some of the best SciFi/Action entertainment these past few decades.
