  • A cute movie.

The trend among low-scoring reviews on this horror comedy goes something like this: people wish the film had been terrifying and over-the-top hilarious. But why can't a genuinely cute movie be successful on its own understated terms? The film has charming characters, old-fashioned romance, and inoffensive humor. It's likely to make you wish you lived in a small Irish town. It gets violent a couple of times, but the context and execution are silly enough to be manageable by folks fourteen and older I would say.

Sure, the plot doesn't have many surprises, and it drags a bit in the third act, but it sure is a fun movie. The dialogue is witty, the characters likable, and the CGI effects are better than you'd think they'd be. Check it out!

Finally found an Irish directed film that was very well put together! Great acting, fx and production value. Well done!!! (I love Paddy!)

There isn’t much in Grabbers you haven’t seen before. But that’s intentional. This is a classic-style horror/comedy in the tradition of Tremors, Slither and Gremlins with a little Close Encounters and Alien thrown in for good measure. And the film pays homage to all those movies shamelessly. The F/X are top notch and the acting performances are as good as they get for this type of flick. It is well aware it’s a cheesy monster movie and even in the midst of the comic book gore never takes itself seriously. Great popcorn flick if you’re just looking for plain old fun.

In the same vein as the very fun and funny movie, Tremors, this was a blast. Really enjoyed and had to pause the movie at one point we were laughing so hard. Plus some genuinely scary and suspenseful bits. Great acting and directing. Irish accents are sometimes a bit tough to understand but you'll get it, you're smart!

There is plenty about "Grabbers" that makes it a really good movie. The irish-themed score is excellent. The characters are great, interesting and likable. The visuals are excellent, including the effects of the creatures and camera work. The story is fun and makes sense and is creative. The violence is good, there is some gore but not over-abundant. There are some good scares. There is some good humor. I don't have much to say against the movie. Very enjoyable, fun monster movie!

This movie is about drinking and fighting monsters off with alcohol. Literally. It's a pleasant movie especially if you want a realistic looking monster but not a ton of super scary moments. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Truly enjpyed this movie. From the atmosphere, the scenery, and the endless Irish rain, to the cast of kooky characters, ending with the ugly monsters. This is a movie that should definitely be on your buy or rental list. This is a horror movie that will get your dopamine exploding, and still have you laughing out loud from the endearing banter between the characters, while you root for their survival.

What a fun little movie to watch. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but definitely revels in the horror/monster genre. The Irish flavor adds a nice touch, especially for those of us that enjoy a wee nip every now and again. Enjoy.
