The story isn't exactly original, but has enough turns and twists to separate itself from similar movies. Abigail Breslin gives a very good performance and carries the plot along well despite a relatively unknown cast. A good ghost story movie certainly suitable for tweens and teens, as well as adults who don't go for horror, blood, and gore, but love a thrilling story.

So this is definitely not full of scares but the story is interesting and worth the long build up. It takes awhile to see where it's going but about a third of the way in I knew where it was heading overall. If you are looking for something a tad different and like ghost stories then this one might interest you. It's beautifully shot and edited and not low budget. Rent before buying. Enjoy

Wow... All I have to say is wow. I heard about this movie almost a year ago, and was very excited for it. I just finished watching it and was not let down at all. The plot is something that I've never seen before, which makes it so much more interested than the typical haunted house flick. It just had just the right amount of buildup, tension, and suspense to keep my attention, and the ending was very satisfying for me. My only complaint is that there wasn't more of a backstory on the villain, and no explanation as to why he was the way he was. Other than that, it was a great movie and I'd definitely recommend it.

Not your usual haunted story. There IS a plot and it keeps you wondering from beginning to end. It has an involved story line that does not confuse you. It certainly didn't confuse me. I am a true horror fan and the movie does have some scares. I found the movie fresh and different. You don't need to have things jumping at you to be entertained. It holds its own as a haunted horror movie.

Pretty decent movie! Had you trying to guess in the beginning but eventually hooked you in! Brilliant performance by Abigail! If totally watch it again! Nice little thriller.

I like the fact that the story attempts to do something with the cliched haunted house story, but the fact of the matter is that this is a children's movie. It is what you would expect from an episode of Goosebumps; the script is tame, the scares are non-existent, and the special effects are minimal, at best.
Abigail Breslin is great (as always), and some of the characters do a good job of pulling you into the story, but this is strictly for the kiddies. If you are an adult looking for a mature horror film, skip this one. There is nothing here worth watching.
