Description

Taylor Steele’s brand new film – “Missing” – puts ASP World Champion Mick Fanning in some of the most radical places on the planet alongside his good friends John John Florence, Jordy Smith, Matt Wilkinson, and Tom Curren. Under the direction of the world-renowned film-maker, the project takes Mick Fanning out of the competition world of the ASP, gives him a boarding pass with a blank destination and for 21 days he is relocated all over the world with only a passport, suitcase and surfboard at his disposal. As a result, the surfing is special, raw, and some of the best that you’ll see on screen this year. From Africa and Ireland to Central America and Spain, the experience literally is life changing for Mick Fanning.

Save your money and don’t buy or rent it. Very short, only 30 minutes. Little surf shots, albeit great. Very little story about a guy hauled away by buddies to escape the rigors of a timed out work schedule. The scenes of other cultures were very trite and depth probing. Way too much of the movie about life on a plane, taxi, or airport. How does rotten tomatoes give it a 96% and the trailer for the movie is so misleading. Don’t get mislead on Missing. Save your Johnny and see something else.

Some of my favorite surfers are in this movie and it still sucked. So slow and boring. Not enough surfing. Too many slow mo art shots. Music was slow and boring too. Do yourself a favor and rent it before you buy it. Sorry Taylor and Mick but this thing blows!

This movie features maybe 10 minutes of actual surfing and the rest is Mick standing around people who are singing indigenous songs. Not great from a surfing or cultural perspective.

I'm really not sure what to write. I like all the cast members and director. I will be clear. This movie was a let down for me, not much substance into Mick as a person or as a surfer. Best part of the movie was hearing him say "Oh F**K" when the bulls where chasing him. Really that was the only authentic (1 second) of the film. Oh yeah another authentic part was seeing him hug his wife during the credits (1 second) too.
