Ah,.....yeah,...this was a very dry boring documentary,...

Brilliantly done and superbly edited, this document gives both sides equal time in the story of St. Louis' Spanish Lake neighborhood. The plight of the working class being pushed out of their homes and the poor being squeezed into squalid conditions shows the frustration, anger and struggles both sides are forced to have. This movie also doesn't take sides or hold one side above another. Literally, the perfect movie about suburban blight, demographic shift and what happens when one group is forced to live with another.

I watched this documentary a couple of days ago...very interesting! I didn't know that in this century this kind of story still could happen!

Born and raised in Bellefontaine '57. Sold my house in Dellwood '97. Part of the ongoing white flight west. What a shame :(

While many may think Americans live in a post-racial society, this documentary proves otherwise. This film is able to balance real people and real numbers, both of which will shock you and force you to re-think about race in America today, and how it affects everything around you. It moves quickly through the years but you will never lose sight of Spanish Lake and its residents. HIGHLY recommend watching this film, no matter where you’re from.

Spanish Lake is controversial in the best way - it gets you to think and talk with others about real race and economic issues that face America right now.

One of the more powerful and important films to come out in a really long time. With everything going on in Ferguson, it is a shame theaters banned it, but I am glad to see the world at large will get a chance to see it in there homes, and have a healthy conversation about the real state of race in America today.

Spanish Lake is SO topical given everything that is happening in America right now. A powerful film that helps you to better understand the root of some of the racial issues plaguing our times.

They say that once every generation there is a film that defines the general sentiment of our nation and somehow Spanish Lake has landed smack dab in the middle of this generation’s conversation about race and economic status. If you are curious how one town could play that role amidst all that is happening in Ferguson, this is the one!

I had watched this documentary a few weeks ago at a screening after the events of Ferguson, Missouri. I was very passionate about that story that is both astonishing and so political. Share it with friends and you are sure to have intense debates for a bunch of dinners. A must-see to make its own opinion!
