Description

Academy Award® winners Kevin Kline and Maggie Smith and Academy Award® nominee Kristin Scott Thomas star in this witty and heartfelt drama about surprising inheritances and unexpected connections. When Mathias Gold (Kline) arrives at the sumptuous Parisian apartment he inherited from his father, he’s surprised that the property comes with two stubborn live-in tenants who are not required to leave according to an ancient French real estate law. Unable to sell the place, Mathias moves in with the feisty Englishwoman, Mathilde (Maggie Smith), and her daughter, Chloé (Kristin Scott Thomas). But as Mathias and Chloé draw increasingly closer, Mathilde unveils a complex labyrinth of secrets that unites the trio in unexpected ways.

It a mediocre film yet in parts very pleasant to watch. I'm on the fence on this 1. I think it's a matter of movie 🎥 taste. Worth a watch

as others have written already, this is not a comedy-it is a very dark/depressing drama that deals with centers around depression, infidelity and suicide. I knew it'd be good based solely on its' cast (Maggie Smith, Kevin Kline & Kristin Scott-Thomas) and it was a good movie…just not funny at all!
  • NOT A COMEDY AT ALL

The trailer and genre say it is a comedy, but that is NOT the case. I rented it because I wanted something funny, so you can imagine my surprise with all the depressive conversation. I would NOT re-rent this film, even though I love Maggie Smith.

This can hardly be called a comedy. It's rather dark.
