Description

On the night before 9/11, a young man living in SoHo places an online ad for a roommate in the Village Voice. On the 12th, he gets five messages. Over the course of the next two weeks, he has trouble finding a new roommate in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on New York while, at the same time, struggles to keep his mental balance. Based on the acclaimed stage play by Brian Sloan and starring the critically praised original cast, this film tells the story of life in New York through the various experiences of people who come to look at Eric’s apartment.

Michael Urie gives a stellar performance in this movie, both funny and heartbreaking as you watch him navigate fear, denial, and hope in the days after the attack on NYC. WTC View actually does an amazing job of capturing the truth of those times, the small details of daily life that might be forgotten by historians and politicians, but were the reality for many of us living below 14th Street. The film stands up to multiple viewings, thanks to a great ensemble cast and the smart direction / script.

Fantastic film version of the off-Broadway play! In the days after 9/11, we see the effect that it had on individual people who are simply looking for a place to live. Brian Sloan's dialog is at times witty and at times heartbreaking. Michael Urie's performance is one of his best! Def add this to your viewing library

A beautiful, humanistic story of life right after 9-11 in New York City through the journey of a young man. Micheal Urie brings nuance and depth to the lead role. A unique time capsule to the time and city right after 9-11 with all of the anxiety, fear and perserverance.

This is a very well written and performed work that covers both what many New Yorkers were dealing with in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 as well as a broad example of those who deal with the effects of PTSD and general anxiety. For those who have never dealt with personal experiences of anxiety and trauma, it will give you a great insight.
