This was very early in his career (after he became big) and showcases his playing early on. The tone is from his Fender Amp and speakers as opposed to the Marshall and other speakers he used later on and is bigger and more raw sounding IMO. He was also using his signature heavy strings (which he later on switched to lighter strings).
