These two comedic icons really pulled out a lot of surprises with this great comedy special. Their fantastic, critically-acclaimed show on HBO is definitely worth owning (along with its clever comedic soundtrack). But even if you haven’t seen it, this special is a great example of what these two can do. Even before their two season stint on HBO, the Flight of the Conchords were musical parody performers first, and this special proves that they’ve only strengthened their craft in recent years. Jermaine and Bret reimagine old favorites (Foux du Fafa, Inner City Pressure, Bowie) with entertaining results, and unleash an impressive amount of new and unreleased material. Their wit and banter is as sharp as ever, and even if every new piece doesn’t land perfectly, their dedicated delivery is more than enough to compensate. This is a special that reminds us of everything that makes Flight of the Conchords great. If you’re already a fan, snatch this up. This special was set to release on November 12 it still has not posted. I love the conchords and this special was fantastic but iTunes not releasing it on time is unacceptable.
