$20 for 8 episodes? There’s a reason no one buys anything on iTunes. I’ll just torrent these.

Not an unwatchable series by any means, but it’s not nearly as deep as Sheridan imagines. And the thin story and characters are at odds with its glacial pace.

As an avid fan of historical dramas, I was truly looking forward to watching the TV series 1923. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. The show’s storyline was weak and lacked depth, leaving me questioning the purpose of it all. It seemed as though the writers struggled to establish a clear direction for the plot, resulting in a disjointed and unsatisfying viewing experience. What was even more frustrating was the heavy-handed injection of “woke” themes throughout the series. Rather than allowing the story and characters to naturally address the complexities of the time period, the series constantly veered into preachy and unrealistic situations and dialogues, detracting from the overall authenticity. Moreover, the characters themselves felt one-dimensional and poorly developed. I found it difficult to connect or empathize with any of them, as their motivations and actions often seemed arbitrary or inconsistent. The lack of character depth further undermined the already faltering storyline, making it nearly impossible to become invested in the show. Additionally, the production quality left much to be desired. The CGI, specifically the scenes in Africa and the journey home are below what I expected. But hey, here’s the big shocker: out of this entire series, only a measly 25% managed to be somewhat worth it, and those were the scenes set in the Yellowstone!
