My Name Is Earl, Season 1

In its freshman season, viewers are introduced to Earl Hickey, a lifelong (but oddly lovable) no-account who wins the lottery — then promptly loses the ticket after being hit by a car. In an epiphany, Earl realizes it's all because of bad karma. Thus begins Earl's quest to turn his karma around by making amends for all of his former misdeeds, of which there are plenty. Each episode finds Earl (Jason Lee) in earnest pursuit to cross another wrong off his list. Given Earl's eccentric past, every mission is its own peculiar adventure, with many funny twists (and some surprising guest stars) along the way. Helping out are his loyal brother Randy and the very sexy motel maid Catalina. Even Darnell, a.k.a. "Crabman," the owner of Earl's favorite beer joint, lends karmic support. But Earl's ex-wife Joy (Jaime Pressly) is a whole other story, unwilling to lift a fake fingernail unless there's something in it for her.
