Description

After 10 years of serving his country as a covert operative, Michael Westen is living every spy's worst nightmare. While in the middle of a dangerous mission in Nigeria, Michael's "contact" informs him that he has been burned. When a spy gets fired, he doesn't get a call from human resources and a gold watch. In Michael's case, they jeopardize his life, freeze his bank accounts, dump him in Miami, and flag him on every government list known to man. They burn him. Now Michael has a much different mission: he must find out who issued his burn notice and why he was blacklisted so that he can put his life back together. As he gets closer to the truth, Michael scrapes by helping out whoever needs his services — mostly desperate people who can't go to the police. Using his Special Ops training, some duct tape, and his sardonic humor, Michael becomes a reluctant hero. It's a dangerous gig, but it's the best he can do . . . for now.

Terrible acting...or so I thought, and then I realized that it's not the actors at all, but the cringeworthy dialogue they've been given (save for Sam Axe --Bruce Campbell is a comical genius, so he makes the cheesiness factor work in his favour). On the positive side, the plotlines are incredibly captivating and complex, and there are definitely some episodes in there that'll pull you in. Fiona's character is one that will grow on you. You've got a woman who knows at all times when the camera is on her, and quite frankly, is definitely aware of it. Her obsession with Michael never quite made much sense to me (if she's such a bombshell as she's depicted in the show, can't she do a bit better than a guy who shows such little interest?) Also, she talks a LOT about wanting to shoot everybody and cause a big scene, but if this really happens, then 90% of it happens off-screen. Then, there's Michael, our hero on multiple missions who's usually one step ahead of the game. His quick wit, sarcastic remarks and monotone-dry sense of humor...you'll either hate him or tolerate him (the latter if you keep watching). Michael's mother...probably the worst and weirdest character on the show. Gaudy, chain-smoking sixty-year-old who somehow always manages to outsmart the bad guys (and give Michael tips?!) even though she clearly doesn't leave the house much...? Aside from some shotty characters and a few "It's simple, really" bad guys, the action in this show is excellent, and it's entertaining if you like to solve puzzles. My hat's off to the writers who did an absolutely phenomenal job creating impossible scenarios that Michael and co thwart effortlessly ~ mysteries galore, amazing execution. Sit back, have a mojito. Enjoy this show for what it is. Not bad, not incredible, but a great summer popcorn series to binge on.

I'm on the fourth season and have been plowing through it since I found it this summer. For anyone who has watched MacGyver and are looking for some kind of TV show to be addicted to is the one! Definitely on my top 10 list!

... this show has it all ... great cast of characters ... fresh twists on the ever more familiar plots ... excellent filming ... and great location ( seems to be actually filmed in Florida not faked using California locals with Miami air shots edited in ) ... I also like the narration by the lead character .... worth the price to watch without commercials and to rewatch and catch missed action and scan the backgound scenes ...

I don't watch TV I really don't, but for Burn Notice I have to make an exception. This is the most phenomenal show I have ever see! It's all the action minus the gore and all the comedy minus the raunchy lines that have polluted modern day TV. Burn notice is incredible and I highly recommend it to everybody.

Wow. "Burn Notice" is one of the best shows I've ever seen. (Burn Notice, Bones, Monk, and Mentalist.) the action never ends, and the sexual tension between them as the seasons go increases. You should really gert this show, it wont be a waste of your time. Promise. If you look for suspense, action, and really good crime-solving, get this show.
  • The introductory season.

This season isn't great, and that's for sure, but it is very, very good. Burn Notice Season 1 introduces you to the characters and stories that you will get in Seasons 2, 3, 4 and eventually 5 and 6 when they are released. Those seasons are definitly better, but if you want to understand what the hell is going on in Season 2 then get this, watch it, enjoy it as I did, and then prepare yourself because it'll get so much better. This show combines Comedy, Drama, Romance and Action to give you a real masterpiece. Do yourself a favor and buy it now, it's well worth it.
