It's such a wonderfully scripted, witty, satirical series that touches on every aspect of the British political process. Its main character is the conscientious if somewhat incredibly slow Jim Hacker, newly elected PM, who only wants to do the right thing, win some confidence votes, and rule the good old GB... that is if the cabinet would only let him ahve his way half the time. This is a world of laughs and misunderstandings, a world where the real reason for hte British Nuclear Deterent is to keep the French from invading ever again (and their dogs), the minutes in an important meeting are never to record what actually happened but what should have happened, and there's nothing the Kremlin doesn't know before it reaches the PM himself... definitely a must watch series! Simply hilarious!

A show with razor sharp wit. It is said Margaret Thatcher used to eagerly watch it....If true that tells you some of the humour/satire was spot on. I grew up with it but can watch it again & again. Highly recommended. Try any episode. It's a shame Paul Eddington & Nigel Hawthorne are no longer with us but this is a testament to their skill. Long live chicken tikka flavoured crisps!!

The series is the wittiest political satire of all time. If you remember the '80s or are a history buff, you will love this series.

One of the all time great British comedies. Wonderfully witty and still so relevant to the politics of today. Brilliant stuff.
  • Politics as witty as it gets!

this season is priceless!! The irony, the Britishness, the fun of it! All folks who appreciate the Daily Show and Colbert Report should download all. Earlier seasons are equally funny. Disraeli once said "Politics is the Art of the Possible.", or was that Bismarck? It doesn't really matter, in politics, whomever can take the credit, will. Try an episode, you won't regret it!
