Description

Bravo’s Top Chef Masters returns with a brand new format and 12 new award-winning chefs hungry to compete for the title of “Top Chef Master” and win $100,000 for their charity. This season, the masters will no longer be judged on a scale, but in elimination style challenges just as the tried and true format of the original Top Chef. In each episode, money will be at stake, with the winners of every quickfire challenge winning $5,000 and elimination challenges winning $10,000 for their designated charities. As previously announced, celebrity chef Curtis Stone will serve as the newly appointed host of the series along with returning judge and culinary expert, James Oseland, and new series judge, the legendary food critic and author, Ruth Reichl. Top Chef Masters pits 12 world-renowned chefs against each other to see how well they fare in fierce culinary competition. The chefs must face off in some of the most difficult challenges we’ve seen thus far –- including the infamous Restaurant Wars –- and they’re serving up food for some master entertainers and celebrity guest judges including: Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, rock group Maroon 5 and pop sensation Kelis, among others.

    This season is seriously bad.

Unlike most reviewers, I really like this season. The format let's me get to know my favorite Master Chefs better, and I really love these chefs. I do agree with some of the criticisms -- I inadvertently saw a graphic that spoiled a couple of episodes for me (in terms of surprise -- I still enjoyed the episodes). Also, some of the challenges are so bizarre that I feel bad for the chefs... But then they usually rise to the challenge, and it must be hard to figure out how to get them to present food that is less than perfect.
  • Bravo is a frustrating channel.

So, is the new episode going to be uploaded anytime soon? I hate going to bravo's website and first thing there is a spoiler about who was kicked off from this episode before I get the chance to watch it! Basically, I just don't visit their website anymore because of this.

I know this seaon is not awesome, but I still must feed my top chef addiction. Kindly upload last Wednesday's episode so I can exchange my hard earned money for a mediocre foodgasm.

The biggest mistake since New Coke. Bravo took an excellent format, as seen on the first two seasons of Top Chef Masters, and destroyed it. Hopefully they will bring back the original recipe that mad Top Chef Masters one of the best competition cooking shows on television.

  • Where is the respect?

These are MASTER chefs, and this should be showcased! However, the producers this season have done anything but that. I miss the respect shown to the chefs that competed in the last season of Top Chef Master. Some of the challenges this season honestly have been ridiculous. I am a huge fan of Top Chef and related shows, and this season has been a disappointment week after week. In spite of everything, the chefs themselves are fantastic!
  • Terrible waste of Money!

This is the worst Top Chef ever. I bought the season pass because I have enjoyed all previous. This is low budget crap and the Chefs are unpleasant to watch. Total waste of money.

I have to agree with what most people are saying about this season. There are a few good things, but with the good, comes the bad. The positive things are that I like the chefs, if you are a person who is interested in food and restaurants (I hate the word "foodie") than you will have heard of these people. I like that it's a whole season of the same chefs, you get to understand them better, and some of them are truly funny, I would have liked to see a season of Ludo from the previous seasons- what a trip! I like that they get some of the curves that the Top Chef contestants get because I think it reminds some of them of their cooking roots- every great chef has been a dishwasaher or line cook in their career. It's too bad that the negatives outweigh the positives. I miss Kelly, she was a little plastic, but nothing compared to Curtis Stone. First of all, who is Curtis Stone? The host shouldn't be a chef- it puts them in an akward position with his peers. Not to forget the fact that if you are going to have a chef as a host it should be someone awesome- Rick Bayless or Eric Ripert perhaps? Curtis Stone doesn't even work in or won a restaurant and is known best for being on the Biggest Loser which is not exactly a ringing endorsement. He's also awful here, very stiff and wooden- even his good looks can't help him here. Also, the judges. I think that Ruth and James are great. If you like the show you more than likely read one or both magazines that they represent. You also know their background and can trust their taste. Bloggers have no place here. I'm sure that they eat in many different places, but personally I don't care what Danyelle thinks. She just doesn't carry the same gravitas that her co-judges do, none of the bloggers do because they don't have the time in or the knowledge that James and Ruth have. I also miss the star system. I just think that it was easier to determine a winner that way. They are Masters after all and shouldn't have to be put through the "drama" filled judges table.

Really disappointed in how flat and uninteresting this season of Top Chef is. It might be because these star chefs have nothing much to lose or to gain from the competition, but there just doesn't seem to be so much passion in their creations. The challenges are unimaginative, and the way the show is cut together seems to lack any of the interest some of the other Top Chef shows have. My favorite was the most recent Top Chef All Stars, which perhaps worked best because the audience knew all these chefs, and the chefs as well knew each other, and were challenging each other fiercely. But this one... yawn.
