As Charlie (Matthew Fox) redoubles his effort to find a mother for Claudia (Lacey Chabert) and Owen, he struggles to hang onto a new girlfriend when he is diagnosed with cancer. And when chemotherapy makes it difficult to care for his siblings and the restaurant, he’s faced with having the two younger Salingers removed from their home. Amid the maelstrom of Charlie’s illness, Bailey’s (Scott Wolf) efforts to put his own life back on track are jeopardized by a criminal record and a rocky start in his new relationship with Sarah. But as Bailey finds hope in taking over at the restaurant for his brother and Julia’s (Neve Campbell) marriage to Griffin threatens to fall apart as she looks to start life again in college, Claudia (Lacey Chabert) quietly begins making plans of her own that could take her far away from her family.
