This is as gritty as it gets. If you like Breaking Bad or SOA you are going to love this show. Can’t stop watching and have event re-watched just to catch it all. Highly recommend this one.

What an incredible ensemble. Jon Voight inhabits this role with such precision, humor, and vulnerability that his violent nature is forgiven. Dash Mihok is flawless as Bunchy. He’s randomly hilarious and always endearing.

Season 2 finale was on Sept 28 2014, why hasn't iTunes put up season 2 yet? Season 3 is in production and due to air starting July 2015 and season 2 still not available to iTunes viewers. PULL YOUR SOCKS UP!!!

It may not be for everyone since I guess by todays standards of blowing stuff up and CGI and fast paced action the show can be considered “slow” by some but the writing and acting along with the plot and story arcs are what makes this show a must watch.

If you want to see the true caliber of this show, go directly to "The Golem' EPISODE and start watching at 20 minutes. Little Miss Know-it-all will get the female verbal smackdown of her life. It is like Chuck Norris explaining to Dana Carvey (as the Church Lady) why "Well isn't that special" isn't meant for a man who talks with his fists. Lots of subplots and dirty delas. Ray is The Man. It makes me want to cheer when the rich pukes who badmouth him get in troubole and come begging for his help. JUST WHEN I thought... "Oh no! Not another Beverly Hills drama about rich people having problems!" They don't know squat about problems, until they are broke. Then they commit suicide, because they are weak as circus lemonade in their moral fiber. This is a show about a man who has to clean up after their debauchery. The best parts of the show are when the rich idiots try to mess with him. Big mistake.

I wasn't crazy about the first episode. But I've said the same about other shows, some of which went on to become addictions, so I decided to give it another chance. Sometime during the second episode I became hooked. Maybe it was when... no, don't want to ruin it for you. :)

Unsettling in an artsy sort of way but a good show
  • Underrated on iTunes - Don’t overlook Ray Donovan

4.5 Stars. Even in this TV renaissance with shows like The Wire, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, ,House of Cards, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Southland, Friday Night Lights, and on and on - I felt that I had nothing left to watch. I’d seen the prematurely cancelled Firefly and Black Donnalys. I was facing the void -waiting for the final seasons of Boardwalk Empire and SOA to get started. And then my brother tells me about this show called Ray Donovan. So I check out the IMDB rating - 8.2 - and wonder how I could have bypassed this show. Three and half stars on iTunes? I usually find iTunes to overrate shows. Not in this case. I don’t know what show many of these highly critical reviewers were watching. These are excellent characters. The writing, while not top tier, is still quite good. The short and long story arcs compelling. I will be watching every episode of this and hoping that the second season is not the last. Don’t overlook Ray Donovan.
