Description

Everyone’s favorite Charlestonians, Craig Conover, Kathryn Calhoun Dennis, Cameran Eubanks, Thomas Ravenel, Shep Rose and Whitney Sudler-Smith return for a second season and what a difference a year makes as the cast is more driven and ambitious than ever. Thomas and Kathryn are sleepless parents to a beautiful baby girl, and in between bottle feedings and diaper changings they find time to spearhead Thomas’s campaign for United States Senate. Shep is busy buying his very first Charleston home and running The Palace Hotel which, ironically, is none other than a hot dog restaurant. Whitney, a jack-of-all-trades, breaks into the reatuarant and music businesses while offering Thomas a hand with his campaign With Craig an official law school graduate and Cameran newly married and making her name as a real estate agent, the crew is taking King Street by storm. New addition this season is, Landon Clements, a friend of Shep’s since college, who moves back to Charleston to hit refresh on her life after a recent divorce. Even with this recent success, relationship tensions, ballots, businesses, and babies push the group to their breaking points.

I would love this show for the homes and scenery alone (except for that carriage house kitchen: BLECH). Beyond the polarizing Thomas Ravenel, and his equally egocentric friend Whitney, there are characters to really like. Cameron with her witty observances and work ethic and Shep with his clever bon mots (not to mention he actually shows manners—laughed at his white tablecloth comment) are fun to watch and listen to. The other main cast members, as well as the walk ons, make intermittently me laugh and feel bad, and want to go shopping.

Obviously this show doesn't reflect real life in Charleston in the same way that a show like Jersey Shore doesn't represent life in New Jersey. Regardless, this show is GREAT. It's amusing, the cast members are funny and most of them likable. As far as reality TV goes this is #gold. Thanks Andy Cohen.
  • An embarrasing approach to be in the spotlight!!

It is scary to me there is a second season. Being apart of the "old world of southern hospitalty," and how real life Charleston people act, despite their class, i.e. whether being rich, middle class or poor...the culture and living in lovely Charleston just makes this show surreal to watch, because the only thing REAL about it are the nice clothing, when the young adults wear, and the gorgeous scenery. This is a man who was indited of drug charges while in serving his term in office, and is now unworthy of the political society. He is an embarrassment to all SC people, so he chooses to pay the TV producers to keep him on TV, only to remind us of all the trouble and drug involved issues that made this state captor to another sad politicians, law breaking politicial ex-official. FYI!! If you need a dealer and are a trustfund child, like most of the company he keeps, if you want drugs, but are too afraid to go seek out something in the scary areas of Charleston, trust me I bet you could score with this EX-politician. Get some help sir. This is even laughable for Reality TV. Too bad the people stick up for this disappointment of a man by watching his garbage TV show. I refuse. Saw plenty of his smug, drugged out face around the SH.
