It could be from Bradenton, Florida where we wait to see if Jason Rupert can win three events in a row. At Maryland International Raceway, Mountain Motor Pro Stock Division’s Dean Goforth unveils a third car for the season. There are other celebrities peppered throughout the season such as outlaw motorcycle builder and TV personality Jesse James, Pro Stock driver and Erica Ender’s current crew chief, Richie Stevens, legendary drag racer Don “Big Daddy” Garglitis and more. Mixed into the qualifying rounds of Nitro Harley’s, Nitro Fuel Alters, Nitro Funny Cars, Pro Stock and the world’s first all-girl Jet Car class, we meet the people that compete for the coveted IHRA Ironman Trophy and championships. It might be Dawn Perdue, a pediatric nurse during the week and 300 mph jet car driver on the weekend. How about Mark Sanders, a man who runs a successful concrete business during the week but on the weekends, with his family by his side, turns into the fan-favorite “Mr. Explosive”. These are just a couple of the big characters we meet in the IHRA Nitro Jam world. All of this culminates with the world finals. It’s about winners and losers; dreams realized or crushed; camaraderie’s and competition.
