Why would they make this it was obviously a classic before but now they had to ruin it with a gory remake why why why

I have loved the original Poltergeist since I was 6. I was deeply against a remake being made about it but despite the boring first 30 minutes or so, the effects and the ending were definitely worth the watch. I’m in no way saying it even comes close to the epic-ness of the original, but in all honesty, the effects and the CGI and the slight differences really aren’t all that bad. Despite having too many characters who had no point, the movie wasn't all that bad. 5 stars for effects, 2 for plot and characters, an extra star simply because Jared Harris was in it and I consider it a solid 4.

The worst part is the acting. The son is the worst kid actor I’ve EVER seen

Changing character names was stupid this movie have been butchered and the ‘writers’ of this this so called ‘movie’ have failed!

It now my favorite I would love if there was a new poltergeist movie because I love how maddy gets stuck in the house and every one trying to save her.

I love all these remakes of classic movies, this is right up there with them. Just enough of an homage to the original while updating it and bringing it into the new age with a few new twists. Excellent alternate ending included.

This movie felt more like a parody of the original then an actual horror film, inferior remakes just tarnish the qualities of the original. If you never seen the original, you might like this, a lot of millennials seem to like original remakes, but to me this is just a mediocre film. Watch the original and enjoy a classic.

And it does so with a vengence. The acting, special effects and production design are horrible. It's as if everyone who had anything to do with this movie knew how horrible it was and just wanted to get it over with.

I love this remake!
