This is a great film! I am more of a Porsche 718 and 911 fan. However, I greatly admire and respect the Ford team who produced this amazing automobile. It is about true American ingenuity. Watching this film reminded me of what Vince Lombardi said about the American football. "Courage, stamina and coordinated efficiency." Ford Mustang also embodies such, I would say, universally revered qualities. The fact that one of the female employees can speak her mind freely to the chief engineer about her disappointment on the new vehicle's styling shows why the Ford team can be so innovative. Someone ultimately is responsible for making a decision but every opinion is heard without prejudice. For me, the focus of this film is is less about the car itself but more about the driving forces behind some of the most innovative and productive commercial enterprises in the US. It's really about the American people and her culture.

This brought back memories of pre-production launch of the 2003 Mustang when I worked for Ford. Exactly the feeling of being hectic and in crunch mode 3 months prior to Job 1. Love how the Chief Engineer talked about leadership; being there for others when they are afraid of failing. Every MBA program should instill that philosophy in leadership because you learn more about it on the job than in a classroom. Great nostalgic movie too!!!

Disclaimer - I have been a Mustang fan since I was 16 (34 years now) and have owned my current ’69 fastback since 1987. I checked this out because I am a Mustang guy but I think anyone interested in the process of a car build will find this interesting. It is not a pure documentary taking you from initial sketch all the way through every step in detail to Job 1. It is a nice high level overview with sprinklings of how it connects to its storied past. The editing is nicely done. I enjoyed it and I think you will as well.

I love Mustangs and Ford, but what grabbed me in this film is the footage from the 60s and 70s, and seeing simpler times contrasted with modern, tech-heavy times. Quite the history of Ford with interesting details about its somewhat bleak time after WWII through the Edsel era, and its resurgence that was launched by Mustang. I didn’t realize how revered the car was inside Ford to this day. If you have a passion for cars, Mustangs, or just designing and marketing good products, you’ll enjoy this film. If you love Mustangs, you’ll probably end up owning a copy. I did.

The film does a great job of illiterate get the 2015 mustang design and construct as well as showing the background and history of the mustang. This is a great movie for any mustang fanatic.

Yes, Mustang is an American Icon...but the story here is one of survival and following one's dreams to all costs. It is the triumph of the creative human spirit and making something truely great!!! I ran right out and bought a new 2015 Mustang to replace my 2011 because of this story!!!

This is a great documentary that you will love whether or not you’re into cars. Gelb gives the viewer behind-the-scenes access to the design of the new Ford Mustang. Like he did in Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Gelb takes what might seem like a mundane task — there, preparing food, here designing an automobile — and treats it as a form of detailed craftsmanship. Where Jiro focuses on the near-solitary efforts of one man, A Faster Horse shows the high level of collaboration needed to bring the latest iteration of the Mustang to life. Although there are areas I wish were explored further (corporate espionage and intense secrecy around the design, for one), the documentary covers a tremendous amount of ground, and I highly recommend it. If you’re like me, you’ll never look at cars the same way.
