Description

A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.

Huge fan of JA, I’ve seen practically every adaption of P&P. There are a few things that this movie did VERY well [the rejection of Mr Darcy (I could watch this version all day) Accomplished women, Lizzy catching the flies (you’ll see), the fighting scenes are well choreographed, Jane is for once actually prettier than Elizabeth like she’s supposed to be). But it fell short in some key areas [Wickham seemed dubious from the get-go, Bingly came across as a coward (a fitty tho), Lady Catherine looked the same age as her “nephew”, Mr. Darcy was acted fine but nothing special and Elizabeth despite being a virtual weapon had scenes of weird insecurity and crying that went against her character even from the original book. So enough of my ramble I give this adaptation a C+
  • A movie you can watch over and over

  • I’m sorry but I think they ruined a classic.

I feel like it’s a good idea to add humor to a classic or change the story a bit and let your mind wonder about the what if’s. I’m a huge fan of P&P. I just think they botched this really bad I didn’t find it to be that funny and they didn’t keep a lot of the best thing about P&P :(
  • A bizarrely entertaining twist on a wonderful classic

The zombie bloodshed was almost a running joke, but it was clearly intended to be. The acting was superb, lending credence to all the classic lines and situations even with the zombies thrown into the mix. Overall it was a very interesting story to watch - similar to the original in all the expectable ways, but just different enough to keep you guessing all the way through. Amazing job!

That’s really all there is to say. It didn’t go beyond the premise in any interesting way
  • Very Well Done

Very well done! Lots of thought went into making this film. About the time, as well as the training and skills that would be needed for such war. Very masterfully done while matching a classic novel.
