Description

Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he’s no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern-mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley) and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

The movie was good but just different. It had good acting, but a lot of scenes were just different. I like the cartoon version best. But this was just different. The characters were good. It had some action. But still good.

I was scared of this movie when I was a kid but now it’s live action and the snake is not scary anymore now that I’m older. Also the wolves are oversized in CGI.
  • Way too scary to be a great film based on the animated version

My family and I were looking forward to seeing this movie, we watched it the other day and boy it turned out to not be a great family film like we were excepting. The storyline is a letdown and not enough like the classic cartoon. The tone was not very happy, and the villain, Sherkan appeared near the begging of the film, he was one of the scariest villains to feature in a CGI remake of the classic cartoon. This movie is not magical, fun, or a laugh out loud comedy film like it is trying to be. My sister and mother were very bored like I was and thought it the movie’s tone was way too sad, sinister, and violent. My father thought the tone was not as happy as the animated one, and I agree. I think this movie is way too scary and inappropriate for kids under the age of 13, this movie should’ve earned a rated PG-13 rating for disturbing images, and intense violence. The young child actor in a cloin coff interacting with computer animated animals set in the jungles of India sounds like a great idea, but just doesn’t work. We are all 23 years and older, no young kids in our family, thank god cause this movie is not for kids like I just said! We turned off the movie at the 59 minute mark. We did the very same thing with Ralph Breaks The Internet. The CGI graphics and backgrounds were breathtaking, same with the action and the voice of Baloo the Bear keep the movie from being skin crawling horrible. Bad movie, but not as horrible as Ralph Breaks The Internet. One more thing, I am super glad we didn’t buy the movie, my family and I watched this on Disney + Still do not watch this movie!👎👎😪😨😡🐻🌴

John Favreau has done one thing that the common Disney lover would say..unthinkable Making a remake of an ancient Disney cartoon movie and turning it into something far better. Favreau knew he had basic material from the original Jungle Book, but he saw the areas of improvement and made it seem easy, adding great dialogue amongst the animals, teriffic visuals & very fun special effects. This Jungle Book plays on the level of an epic that plays like its own movie it doesn’t completely mirror the original and feels that it doesnt have to, which is what i love most about this movie. Also all of the voices for the characters seem spot on for their personalities. For instance realizing that bagheera was voiced by (Ben Kingsley) i thought to myself how good of a fit to pair a very noble and stiff minded actor with a panther who feels a parent and tough mentor to the young man cub mowgli (Neel Sethi) who also isnt your typical obnoxious kid cast in a Disney film, hes more lovable, ambitious but also...open minded. Mowgli as we know is raised by a pack of wolves, given the fact they had little involvement with Mowgli in the original, here they are basically the main plot point, They are family to him, we see a father and mother, and a couple of little ones. The Lead wolf is named Akeela, his other half Rasha, there is also a phrase the wolves use to bond the jungle together which i prefer not to write in detail, it is better left unsaid till you watch the movie yourself. The big chill for me is the villainous Tiger Shere Khan voiced by (Idris Elba), and in this movie hes no one to bargain with, hes more ruthless, scary, and has a purpose to all of his killings, which we learn kills not just Akeela the lead wolf, but also Mowglis birth father in a dark cave, in the progress he gets burn marks on his face and a damaged eye caused by what animals call the “Red Flower” in relevance to Fire. Mowgli doesnt know this, he has no ideas the tiger killed both of his fathers, but when he does het word, he doesn't act cowardly, but gets a burning torch and comes looking for him in the heart of the jungle, its a nice touch making mowgli a more brave soul despite he has a slight disadvantage against a really creepy tiger who has facial scars and is eager to have mowgli killed for himself. When Mowgli meets argubly the most lovable character in this famed storybook Balu the bear, perfectly matched with the voice of (Bill Murray) they are instant bestfriends and see the great potential in eachother, its more of a chemistry bond in this movie and when they meet up bagheera, he feels as if hes raising 2 kids instead of one. Now again, it doesnt take much to figure out balu’s character, but murray brings out a more chill, laid back and humorously stubborn touch to the bear, its a perfect match, bears are also everything murray is, except they usually don't talk which is ok here. Eventually Mowgli is in the captures of an enormous chimp King Louie voiced by (Christopher Walken), balu & bagheera are off to the rescue and seeing the 2 of them together, its funny, we get humorous banter and more noble dialogue, even from walken playing the giant chimp makes louie seem more godly than clumsy. I remember seeing the original Jungle Book and remembered all the gray areas that stood out from the iconic songs, which also don't play a big factor in this remake, which again is ok with me. Favreau went in a new direction and goes off script with this remake, its far more fun, scary, adventurous, cheerful and deep with its continuously great dialogue, he knew he didn't have to mirror the cartoon, he knew there was room for improvement and the rest was history. The Action, the chase sequences, the great lines, and the tremendous visuals make this feel more than a Disney movie, it felt as if i was watching An Oscar worthy film. Now this sets the bar for many other live action Disney remakes to live up to this hype, will they have the knowledge and wisdom to repeat this success? I surely hope so. One of the 10 Best films of the year, and in my opinion the best live action remake I ever seen.
