Description

Based on a true story, U.S. Customs agent Robert “Bob” Mazur (Bryan Cranston) goes deep undercover to infiltrate Pablo Escobar’s blood-soaked drug trafficking scene plaguing the nation in 1985 by posing as slick, money-laundering businessman Bob Musella. Teamed with impulsive and streetwise fellow agent Emir Abreu (John Leguizamo) and rookie agent posing as his fiancé Kathy Ertz (Diane Kruger), Mazur befriends Escobar’s top lieutenant Roberto Alcaino (Benjamin Bratt). Navigating a vicious criminal network in which the slightest slip-up could cost him his life, Mazur risks it all building a case that leads to indictments of 85 drug lords and the corrupt bankers who cleaned their dirty money, along with the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, one of the largest money-laundering banks in the world.

Dissatisfied with the experience of ordering movie. Movie begins playing and after thirty minutes it stop and began downloading again. I never got a chance to see it. When I check back the next time movie was off my purchase list.

Can't believe I hadn't watched this sooner. Rented but will totally buy. Such an underrated film and B. Cranston yet again shows how brilliant he is. Highly recommend. Movie kept us on the edge of our seat the entire time.

I like all the talent involved with this film, but I just didn't care after a while.

Poor character development gave a shallow feeling to the movie. I felt disconnected to every character and was not stirred by any of the situations in which they were involved. This movie lacked soul and was created not for passion; but solely for $.

Exceptionally well directed and very realistic scenes. This film is not for the faint of heart because it times it gets pretty bloody, and I don't mean the fake kind that you typically see. Intermixed with the film are some actual news footage. Since I lived through that time in history, I could really relate. Perhaps, this is why some felt that the movie was difficult to follow. I very seldom rate movies with a five-star rating, and I can honestly say, this one deserves it. It is not your typical Hollywood BS gangster movie with fake looking theatrics.

The plot has a bunch of holes in it … the story just sort of happens with tying things together very well … but still entertaining

So earlier today my college held a free screening because Robert Mazur was a graduate from here. He and his wife even showed up and did a Q&A after the movie. The Q&A was great (he's a cool guy), but the movie was only alright. It's worth a watch, but it's got some logic errors and such.
  • Not bad, but not great

The story jumped around a lot leaving holes that if fillled, could have made the movie more satisfying. I think the movie could have been 45 minutes longer in order to offer more depth and build more on the characters and events. There just isn't anything new here. That being said, this movie is important because it gives audiences a glimpse at the the level of risk these brave agents accept in order to control the the flow of drugs into our country, fight corruption, and ultimately keep us safe. What these agents did back in the 70's, 80's and 90's was literally insane. I think its fair to say they were a very special breed.

Disappointing movie. Very little character development.
