Love the use of kids in this movie. Eye opening look into the A-Rod steroid scandal.

Screwball is about the unique ‘culture’ that persists in Billy Corben’s lifelong home of Miami. It is difficult for me to imagine anyone interested in how a single act between small time criminals can shake up billion dollar industries and federal law enforcement. The use of children to reenact dialogue between all parties involved was brilliant (and absolutely hilarious...the kids, costume, bad make-up are perfect). The film is narrated by the man guilty of being at the center of this screwball story. Corben’s direction sticks entirely to the facts....cliche warning: sometimes the truth is stranger than blah blah. Brilliant!

Remember the Irish in Boston and the Italians in New York back in the days. You skirt the law to your liking and bend the law as a matter of fact. In your mind you really not doing anything wrong. This is a story about Cubans in Miami during the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. It’s comical at times. A great documentary.

Off the strength of his previous documentaries, Cocaine Cowboys and The ‘U’, Billy Corben takes a look at the crazy story of Tony Bosch and his Biogenesis company that played heavily into Major League Baseball’s steroid scandal. This was a blast to watch and I am ready to watch it again already!

If you love crazy Miami stories, you'll love this! Billy Corbin is one of my favorite documentary makers (Cocaine Cowboys, The U, and many others). He nails this story and you don't have to be a baseball fan or a sports fan to enjoy this. The story of Biogenisis seems like something right out of a Carl Hiaasen novel, Florida crazy that can only be true in Florida. I highly recommend!
