i loved it but still want to buy it!

...by a long shot. An exceptional documentary about an exceptional person. High;y recommended.

The documentary was great! I learned a ton about this great mind. Not sure if I agree with his taste in music, but I enjoyed watching a strip of his life as a human. Only thing I didnt like was that it was 7$ to rent. But that was my fault for not reading carefully. I thought it was purchase. Im sure I lose more in between my car seats. LOL

Alex Winter’s documentary on Frank Zappa is a perfect introduction to the mad genius for new listeners. Entertaining and insightful, Zappa is a well crafted retrospective focusing on FZ’s work as a band leader, composer, and activist.

What I know about Frank Zappa is absolutely nothing! I was young in the sixties and the Zappa name on the street was associated with LSD and freaking out after listening to his albums. I would see news clippings of Frank Zappa and considered him to maybe be like Charles Manson, someone just crazy. But listening to some of his albums, I realized that he wasn’t crazy at all. He just didn’t know how to play any music that was a least worth listening too. If you ever bought an album of his, you probably asked yourself “Why did I buy this?” But he was iconic and because he was intelligent, that made him interesting! So give this documentary a view and see what it’s all about. It’s not as bad as his music.

Excellent overview. For anyone who wishes there was more music and less talk, that’s what the soundtrack album is for - which, at 68 songs, is a superb companion to the film. Yes, some find Zappa arrogant and insufferable. They say the same thing about Joni Mitchell. In the face of a critical establishment that’s content to pander to shallow consumerism, who can blame them? It’s the art that matters.

I’d like to not just rent it. It’s something I’d watch multiple times. Please consider adding buy as an option on iTunes. Thanks.
