Description

While Joseph Piller (Claes Bang), a Dutch Jew, was fighting in the Resistance during the Second World War, the witty, debonair art connoisseur Han van Meegeren (Guy Pearce) was hosting hedonistic soirées and selling Dutch art treasures to Hermann Göring and other top Nazis. Following the war, Piller becomes an investigator assigned the task of identifying and redistributing stolen art, resulting in the flamboyant van Meegeren being accused of collaboration — a crime punishable by death. But, despite mounting evidence, Piller, with the aid of his assistant (Vicky Krieps), becomes increasingly convinced of Han's innocence and finds himself in the unlikely position of fighting to save his life.

Rented for 99¢. Amazing bargain. If you enjoy history & true tales. You should enjoy this.

We had never heard this story, but it was very interesting. Scary CG of poor Rotterdam after the Nazis got through bombing. Also the real end to Han van Meegeren, the most famous art forger, was that he died from heart attacks at age 58? Most interesting movie and Guy Pearce did a super job playing the part!

The “spoilers” don’t tell it all, as usual.

Looks interesting... but the description alone gave the movie away. Who writes these things? Can’t someone sell a movie without showing everything in a trailer and a blurb? Will update after I watch tonight and try to forget the spoilers.
