Description

It is the far future, and humans and Dracs are mortal enemies, locked in a terrible war. In the middle of a battle, a soldier from Earth, Willis Davidge (Dennis Quaid), crash-lands on a barren world. His search for survivors only turns up one other stranded pilot - a Drac (Louis Gossett Jr.). The two are hostile at first, but quickly realize that on this savage world, they have no choice but to band together in order to survive. In the process, they learn about each other's cultures, and a grudging respect eventually develops into full-fledged friendship.

I watched this movie over thirty years ago for my first time and was pleasantly surprised that it was a remake with a futuristic twist. The acting is well done and the storyline is far above anything I have seen in years.

I at first found clips on YouTube but I wanted to watch the whole movie. Surprisingly it's here. It an awesome movie, with great special effects of its time, and contains so much feeling. Also (spoiler): WARNING! MOVIE CONTAINS MPREG! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

If you are like me and can deal with cheesy old music and special effects that are just meh compared with today's if the story is good, then this is for you. It's a great story that explores what we don't normally see in times of conflict. The other side is always vilified. But when two enemies are forced into a situation in which they must rely on each other for survival, old prejudices fall away and a beautiful friendship evolves. So once you accept that this was top of the line for the time and lose yourself in the story, you find this is one of the most underrated science fiction movies out there and it's worth the watch. Just my two cents

I "accidentally" saw this movie while surfing channels a long time ago. I couldn't help but become engrossed in this amazing tale of true friendship and sacrifice in a sci-fi setting. The pairing of Dennis Quaid and Lou Gosset Jr was extraordinary (in my opinion). This movie made me think, laugh and cry and made me reflect about "How far would I be willing to go for a true friend?"

I watched this movie as a kid and was blown away. This is probably one of the most underrated sci-fi movies of all time. Even In growing up I still appreciate the performances.

Well done movie about challenging your predjudices and getting along. We need more like this and many less remakes of initially bad films, or even of good original films. Seems Hollywood cannot make good new films that aren't based on comic books. I definitely recommend this to anyone.
