Description

Packed with epic action, Open Range is a powerfully gripping story that's never been told until now, and stars Academy Award winners Robert Duvall (Tender Mercies) and Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves), and Academy Award nominee Annette Bening (American Beauty, Being Julia). A group of free grazers, four men trying to escape their past, are driving cattle and living off the land on the open range -- a place where nature makes the only laws. When a ruthless, evil rancher tries to run them out of town, the men's peaceful existence takes a tumultuous turn and ends in the grittiest, most explosive gunfight on film as two men battle a town for honor, justice, and a way of life that's quickly disappearing.

This really is a great western tale. One of the more realistic gunfights is the piece de resistance for this movie, which as a relatively unknown title starring a star-studded cast. It’s not Tombstone, but it’s darned good.

A very good western. But does not have the cool factor like Clint Eastwood in the man with no name movies, or Wyap Earp in Tombstones. Still a very good western.

I love this movie and have had it on my Wish List for nearly two years, and in that time the price has never dropped from $17.99. It’s a great movie, but iTunes really needs to bring down the price to something more reasonable.

I loved this movie from the start! For me personally, it is an educational historical themed Movie of our Old Western era in America. I am especially touched by the relationship between the two starring characters, and Robert Duvall. I think of this movie as ‘the challenges of harsh times between a man and woman’, with a touch of romance. I was introduced to this fine movie back in 2014 as I was alone, home sitting a huge fairly isolated country house built by the owners. Watching it was quite comforting, keeping me company in a situation which was mildly dangerous. Besides, I wholeheartedly appreciate Kevin Costner’s many talents that continuously line up with what I value in this world. He is a jewel in our American entertainment productions! I have not been able to recall it’s title. I finally found it, and I am thrilled! I’ll be purchasing and downloading it now. I must have watched it at least 75 times!

Good justice movie. Small town America in the 1880’s.

Love this film and love the music and direction as well. Truly puzzled why the studio in the US won't invest to put this beautiful movie on blu-ray or even better, 4k. A bit pricey on iTunes, but will buy once they lower the price on this.
