Description

It's an incredible cinematic adventure as the legendary Sinbad sets off on a dangerous journey to the mysterious Island of Colossus. His quest is to break the spell cast over his beloved princess by a diabolical magician. But before he can save her, Sinbad must battle an awesome collection of mythical monsters, the man-eating Cyclops, a saber-wielding skeleton, a ferocious two-headed bird called the Roc and a fire-breathing dragon. Starring Kerwin Mathews, Kathryn Grant, Torin Thatcher and highlighted by the stunning visual effects mastery of Ray Harryhausen. Now in a pristine, hi-definition transfer that captures the magic of Harryhausen's "eye-popping" special effects in dazzling Technicolor.

The intro music and painting captures the attention immediately. There is mystery, suspense, action/adventure and decent special effects for that time. However I find that this movie doesn't need all the bells and whistle and flashing lights to make this a good movie. The Cyclops appearance is very interesting. The mixture of greek mythology with arabian folktales are also interesting. My little nephews began saying "this movie is boring" but they were fascinated by the end with all the mythological creatures. Good movie.

In the 50's this film came out and I'm betting 20 bucks that they were so surprised about how great it was due to a disasterous flop the other sinbad movie before it came.....but then again, this one had Harryhausen's great visuals for the day. My favorite part of this movie was the battle between the cyclops and Toro- the wizard's dragon! The story is great, almost like a great fairy tale. If you want a great fantasy story with Harryhausen's effects, then check this one out! It's a good one!
