Description

Echoes of "Gone With The Wind" are heard in this lavish all-star production, particularly in the performance of Clark Gable and the lush melodies of Max Steiner (who wrote the score for GWTW). Noted director Raoul Walsh ("White Heat," "High Sierra") captures the epic sweep of the novel by Robert Penn Warren ("All the King's Men") and tells a dramatic tale of the Civil War South, as love and war collide. Sidney Poiter stars as an educated slave.

Don't waste your money!! I've seen many classics and this one ranks #1 in my book of WORST CLASSICS EVER. It's one of the worst movies I've seen, period! Echoes of Gone With the Wind, my foot - It's just a cheap wanna-be. The plot is muddled and it's obnoxious and overlong. If you want Southern drama and romance, stick with GWTW!

There are similarities in this film towards GWTW & that is kinda lame. It is though an wonderful film in its self I have watched it many of times.
