Brad Pitt is Jerry, a low-level Mafia "mechanic" whose ineptitude is countered by frequent bursts of dumb luck. Julia Roberts is Jerry's girlfriend, and she wants him to get out of the business. Before Jerry can depart ways with the mob, he must do one last errand – go to Mexico and recover a rare, valuable, and possibly cursed pistol known as “The Mexican.” He finds the weapon with ease, but making his way back to the States proves to be more challenging, especially when hired hitman Leroy (James Gandolfini) plans to kidnap Samantha until Jerry comes back.
