Richard Gere stars as a charming construction worker afflicted with a manic depressive disorder. When he finds himself hospitalized, he is treated by a phychiatrist who, while attempting to control the extremes of his moods and the mercurial quality of his illness, is shocked to find herself falling in love with him.
