Description

When 29-year-old Lola (Gerwig) is dumped by her fiancé Luke (Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before the wedding, she embarks on an emotional, year-long adventure of self-discovery filled with love, loss, hilarity and heartache. Guided (and often misguided) by the well-meaning advice of her close friends and eccentric parents, Lola's chaotic journey en route to the big 3-0 proves that a single tumultuous year can yield the lessons of a lifetime.

  • When we’re lost we screw up ...

When we’re lost we screw up and may not know what to do ... To “kind of quote” Jim Rohn ... when your in a dark room you take little small step, why because your unsure ... but when the light is on you take bold steps and become visionary. [My opinion/feeling: This movie left me feeling heart broken at points for mankind and it reminded me that the we are lost, aching/longing for the truth ... and it’s not in drugs, sex, alcohol, horoscopes/etc, movies, things, ourselves or people ... it’s only in JC, when we’re silent and seeking God we can hear Him calling us. The trick is recognizing its God we truly need, though all of nature is calling out, we resist and try everything else first sometimes, when really we just need to surrender and rest in Him and serve others. There is a great line in here about learning to love yourself maybe more about learning to love others!] This was a good movie about how we have to find ourself and sometimes, something traumatic causes us to hit reset or start searching for who are we really and that the things around us are viewed through our perspective and sometimes are not the truth about us.

For me it felt contrived in spots and Lola was the only charachter I felt even mildly invested in, the supporting charachters where laughably cliche and one dimensional. That said there were moments that were really good were I got lost in the story, I just wish there had been more of them.

First off, I’d like to say I thought this film was GREAT. Not a favorite, definitely not something I’m going to be watching over and over again, but good. I felt like the writers wanted to villainize Lola for the first part of the film, but she seemed to be the only one I could sympathize with. If you like melancholy indie films with a few chuckles here and there that cause you to reflect on your own life and actions this one is for you.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I totally enjoyed this movie. I thought it was very funny and kind of bittersweet as well.

That's what we need, an even crappier version of Eat, Love, Puke or whatever that movie was with Julia Roberts. echhh...torture.

I rented this movie from Netflix and am still upset that it was $1.25 wasted. One of the lamest, most narcissistic movies I have ever seen and I watch a lot of reality TV. Sorry Gretta Gerwig.....

This movie had so much potential, but came up very short. It was extremely boring and I didn't laugh once. Actually, I found it depressing. Definitely not reccomended.

The only thing worth watching in this movie is the man candy.
