Description

Behind every great love is a great story. As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands). Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force.

I don't expect that many young males will get the most of out this film because it is sensitive and involves the type of love that most have to make it to middle age to truly understand. It is not a love story about romance alone, but of the highest kind of love, which is complete and total selflessness. Is this a perfect story? I'd give it a 95 out of 100, but taking off 5 points only for the unexpected contiuation after a perceived ending, which then makes it even better. For those who aren't adult enough to appreciate this film, they can give it as few stars as they wish. As for those of us who have experienced the real thing at this level, well, ratings do not matter. This is one of the best love stories I've ever seen.

The plotline at the begining is very missleading, but in a good way. You would probably think that it is going to be one of those non-original summer romance movies. Well, its that and so much more. The whole flashforard and flashback aspects incorparated in the storyline gives it that much needed flavor, to make it different from all the other summer romance movies. The ending is sad, like all Nicholas Sparks movies, but the way he exacuted it was brilliant and added in that much needed kick. This is one of the classic teen movies that every teen girl needs to watch once in their lives, and will definitley leave the people who don't normally cry in a pool of tears. Just so sad they took it off of Netflix. I would recommend buing it, because you can't only watch it once. It will remind you of what love should feel like and will leave you in awe.
