so the acting was fantastic and the overall look of the film was beautiful, although it was tough to place that it occurred during the 70s. this appeared more like the 50-60s visually. the biggest issue i had with the film was its pacing. overall it was just plain slow and a touch boring, although again, the acting was excellent. after about an hour i was feeling slightly over it already. the scares were really mild and i would say this played a bit more like a thriller than a horror film in my opinion. definitely rent before buying an then only if you lacking any other movies on your list to watch first.

I can say I was entertained, but not enough to pay the 15 bucks. But 2.99...ok, the story was half decent, but not nearly as good as I thought it would be. I was kinda disappointed for the most part. The previews made it seem far creepier than it really was, but if suppose if it really IS based on true events, I guess you can't expect too much, right?

When the opening credits listed 4 or 5 writers, my heart sank and I knew we were in for a mess. I was right. A tired, tedious, kitchen-sink approach to horror that makes very little sense. It has its moments, so I didn't absolutely hate it, but it mostly felt like a waste of my time.
  • Worth watching

As a horror movie buff I can say The Quiet Ones had a sinister feeling that worked very well. (I found myself hugging my pillow in the dark.) While a few things seemed to be missing from the plot that may have made it seem less disjoined, I thought it was much better then some horror movies that have come out recently. Definitely better then critics suggested, but I’v learned never to listen to them.

This was a very vreepy movie, but that is what made it entertaning. And the fact that it was based on true events.... I cant even explain how great this movie is.
  • Very tedious

After having to watch the movie twice because of loosing interest mid way. I would have to say this movie was very repetitive and wasn't very scary at all. Just like the movie "momma" it was more sad and slightly heart felt. If you're looking for something to scare you right off the bat, this movie is probably not for you

The whole critical world has gone mad. Oculus is a 76% fresh rating and this is 36%. Oculus was such incomprehensible garbage, we had to turn it off in the first 25 minutes, whereas this was a well told, classic ghost story littered with great performances. Please Apple, ditch the tomato meter and depend on your audience to set the ratings. I avoided this film in favor of Oculus upon seeing that stupid, green splattered tomato.
  • Could have been good.

Sometimes when I see these kind of movies I think about what if I would have wrote this, I could've have made this a descent horror thriller and I wonder why the crew that made it didn't do things differently but it is what it is, and this horror film is one you'll want to skip, not entertaining and way predictable.
