Preacher, Season 1

I couldn't even make it through the pilot. Too violent, deviant, and borders on the criminally insane. I think my life is better off without watching this type of weirdness.

Spiritual roots

Amazing this made it to television at all, much less to a second season. We're enjoying this irreverent, bloody goofball of a show immensely.

Unbearably and inextricably violent. I don't know what is going on, and I sort of don't care. Glad I only got the pilot. Pity. I like the idea of the preacher and his ex Tulip. But can't stand to watch it.

An honest warning, If you find sin, vice, violence and a twist on religion offensive you might want to steer clear. If you have read the comics, you will appreciate this first season as a character developing prequel. It tries to remove some of the coincidental issues in the comic. To be frank with you dear readers, I reread the comics as soon as I found out Joe Gilgun was cast as Cassidy. The man was made for the role. I think it is a great show.

The casting, story arc, and direction are all first rate, but be warned ... this is not for the faint of heart. As another reviewer said, it is gory, blasphemous, irreverent fun. It is also violent, unpredictable, sexy, and very, very funny.

I was intially interested in the show just based on the stated subject matter (never read the comix book that these character originated from). Part way through the season I was concerned that, while each episode was interesting and entertaining, it was being written on-the-fly and wouldn't come together into a cohesive sotryline. Biy was I wrong. This was an incredible first season and I purchased the entire season after the final episode just to be able to go through all of the episodes again at-will. Great job to the actors, producers, and everyone that worked so hard to pull this series together.

High praise but this is a fantastic show with awesome humor and personality and unpredictability.
