This series makes accessible aspects of science and culture that are not often in the public domain. I was particularly impressed with the historical narrative of "Absolute Zero", which brought to life a subject I hadn't really considered before. I also can't help but enjoy the Car Talk guy's take on the state of the automobile industry in America. NOVA is right on target. It succeeds in its effort to expand its audience's minds in an informative, entertaining way, providing enough "meat" to satisfy, but with enough "dessert" to keep even scientifically challenged people like me involved and wanting more.

If you are not familiar with the work of E. O. Wilson, this is a nice overview. However, if you have read any of his books, then this is disappointing. I wanted more on the ants themselves, because the title does indicate that it has to do with ants. It's like a lot of NOVA productions, they try to appeal to people who are not acquainted with the topic, not a bad goal in and of itself, but it leaves those of us who want more depth feeling like we missed out.

This show is fantastic and I wish people would actually review the SHOW and not the price that PBS requires itunes to charge. If you have an issue with the price then take it up with the studio. This show is both informative and interesting- if you like shows like the universe you will love this one!
