Description

Buster Keaton stars in his last silent film as a humble working man in love with a star actress--who marries him after her co-star and fiancé weds another. Alas, the poor groom is the last to learn that his dream wedding is only a Spite Marriage. Elmer (Keaton--Go West, The Cameraman) has never missed a performance by the woman of his dreams, Trilby Drew (Dorothy Sebastian). Every night, he borrows a clean tuxedo from an unwitting customer and races to the theatre. And on the night that Trilby discovers her co-star, paramour and fiancé, Lionel Benmore (Edward Earle), has ditched her, she demands Elmer marry her. But when poor, sweet Elmer discovers the union is a marriage on paper only, he takes a job aboard a gambling ship, where he rescues Trilby from certain death--and where Trilby realizes she has truly loved Elmer all along.
