Description

Atlantic City, 1920. When alcohol was outlawed, outlaws became kings. HBO presents Season One of this epic new drama series that follows the birth and rise of organized crime in 'the world's playground' at the dawn of Prohibition. Steve Buscemi heads up the cast as Enoch 'Nucky' Thompson, the city's undisputed czar who is equal parts politician and gangster. With illegal alcohol opening up lucrative opportunities, Atlantic City becomes a major hub of bootlegging activity as Nucky and his inner circle preside over notorious backroom politics, vicious power struggles, a constant onslaught by the Feds, and Nucky's own insatiable appetite for women, profits and power.

One of the best historical based fictional dramas I have viewed. Thoroughly entertaining and intriguing as to how society loved and hated the Prohibition era at the same time. The depth of each character and their individual mystique makes me want more and more of this series.

Let your petty price and tech issues be between you and Apple/HBO/911. I'm tired of reading about it. Write reviews of the show. I'm interested to know if it's a good show, not if your pizza is hot. Most of the reviewers haven't even watched the show. No wonder Walking Dead is so popular.
Star is for the $47 price tag not the show

I like HBO but I'm not paying $46.99 for one season of one show. There are too many other good shows. I give it a one star b/c of the price. I gave up cable so I saw a second season episode and loved it. Figured I'd get the first season off here and then I realize if I actually bought the shows off iTunes I'd lose out by a lot!! HBO needs to drop their prices and watch how many more people download their shows legally and make a move to rule the internet. Thats how to survive. Otherwise, doomed no matter how good the programming.
